Get your hands on Delta flights to Italy now.
We have brought with us a piece of great news. Delta Airlines recently announced that they will be launching quarantine-free flights between U.S and Italy. This was not an impulsive decision at all. The airline had been working with Mayo Clinic for a long time and initiating various trails to make this happen. This blog will cover all the updates on Delta Airlines Reservations to Italy and Rome.
Is it Tried and Tested?
The airline did a trial, last
December on flights between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
and Aeroporti di Roma Fiumicino. The trial was done to see if they can come up
with an idea that does not require mandatory quarantine in Italy.
The trial was monitored by experts at
Mayo Clinic. But now the question arises, what was the purpose of the trial?
Let’s simplify this. The aviation industry suffered a huge loss because of the
pandemic. This situation became so bad that airlines were losing almost 100
million USD daily. They had to find a solution to this predicament and bounce
back as soon as possible. Getting the trials started was the airline’s way of
recuperating and accepting more Delta Airlines Reservations.
The airline officially announced the
opening of COVID-tested flights from the U.S to Italy on May 16. The
announcement brought joy among the passengers who have been waiting to visit
Italy ever since the pandemic hit. The decision came as the result of the
Italian government’s announcement of allowing the entry of American passengers
especially leisure travelers into the country.
Delta Airlines’ Executive Vice President and President-International, Alain Bellemare was delighted to break the news and was quoted as saying.“Delta was the first U.S. airline to launch quarantine-free service to Italy, and our COVID-tested flights have proved a viable means to restart international travel safely. “It is encouraging that the Italian government has taken this step forward to reopen the country to leisure travelers from the U.S. on our dedicated protocol flights and further supporting economic recovery from the global pandemic.”
What are the requirements of Delta
Airlines Reservations to skip quarantine?
For all Delta Airlines
Reservations between JFK to Milan, quarantine-free flights were launched on 2nd
April 2021. The passengers were able to avoid the mandatory 14-day quarantine
on their arrival. However, they were subjected to rigorous COVID testing which
took place both, before and after the flights.
The step was seen as a real boost and
became an inspiration for other air carriers as well. With the vaccination
rollout, the number of flights will only increase resulting in profits for the
airlines.
The COVID-tested flight trial that
begun in December has started to bear fruits on all Delta Airlines
Reservations. The airlines announced that they will increase the frequency of
their flights to Rome from three times a week to four times a week from May and
will start operating daily flights to Rome starting from June.
Armando Brunini, CEO of SEA Milan Airports commented that “We hope that this will be the first of many other COVID-tested and quarantine-free flights supporting the beginning of the recovery whilst we wait for vaccination campaigns to gain momentum. A special thanks to the Italian National and Regional Governments for their help in making this happen.”
Extensive COVID testing protocols
Passengers traveling to Italy and Rome will undergo the testing procedure a total of three times. We know it’s a little rigorous but essential to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino airports have a built-in testing facility. The medical professionals present at the airports will execute the RT-PCR test upon the arrival of the passengers. A negative result at all three stops will guarantee a quarantine-free journey for the passenger.
Let’s have a look at the types of COVID tests the passengers are supposed to take;
COVID-19 RT PCR test was taken 72
hours prior to their departure from the U.S.
The second test will be taken at the
JFK airport before the boarding process begins. It will be a Rapid test
The last test (Rapid) will be taken at the arrival airport (either Milan Malpensa or Rome Fiumicino) inside the airport itself.
